Uddika Premaratne resigns from Parliament

Unidentified gunmen open fire at MP Uddika Premaratne's vehicle Parliament, Feb 27 (Daily Mirror) - Anuradhapura district Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Uddika Premaratne resigned from his Parliamentary seat.

Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardane, upon inquiry by the Daily Mirror, confirmed that Premaratne has handed in his letter of resignation.

Premarathna was elected to parliament in Anuradhapura in the 2020 election with 133,550 votes.

Though he had realized that there was no purpose for being an MP of the government, he never voted against them to exhibit his displeasure. At least he would have voted for the no-confidence motion and left. He too is a failed man in every sense.

In the 2020 election 145 Pohottuwa supporters we democratically elected by the people. Uddika was one amongst them. Today we have a section of the people who fail to realise the stupidity of voting based on what politicians say. We need to seriously question them on their vision and how they plan to achieve results. We as voters are responsible for the success and failure of those whom we vote.
