Upcountry train services limited to Nanu Oya



Colombo, Nov.23 (Daily Mirror) Due to the bad weather conditions, train services on the central hills have been limited to Nanu Oya railway station until further notice, the Railways Department said.

They said the railway tracks were obstructed on four occasions yesterday after the collapse of earth mounds on the upcountry railway track.

Yesterday, the two-night mail trains were canceled due to the high rainfall in the central hills.

Accordingly, the railway tracks between Ohiya and Idalgashinna stations were obstructed due to the collapse of an earth mound near the No. 31 tunnel at 5 a.m.

After clearing the tracks, the same place was obstructed for the second time at 10.30 a.m., and it was obstructed for the third time at 12.30 p.m.

Meanwhile, the railway line between Hali-Ela and Demodara had been obstructed due to the collapse of an earth mound last night at around 10.15.

Moreover, the railway line between Hali-Ela and Demodara was also obstructed, the department said.
