Update: Paratroopers injured during Independence Day rehearsals



File photoColombo, Jan 30 (Daily Mirror) - At least four paratroopers were injured when their parachutes failed to open properly during the Independence Day rehearsals being held at Galle Face Green.

Army Spokesman Major General K.A.N. Rasika Kumara said two paratroopers landed on a building when their parachutes failed to open.

It was reported that during a parachute rehearsal, two parachutes collided in the sky, resulting in an accident.

Two paratroopers from the Sri Lanka Air Force and two paratroopers from the Army sustained injuries in the incident.

According to hospital sources, two Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) paratroopers have been admitted to the Colombo National Hospital and are presently undergoing medical tests.
