Vehicles parked at Galle Face returned to Govt. institutions

Colombo, October 01 - The vehicles that had been brought to the Presidential Secretariat from various government institutions, including Ministries and departments, were returned to their respective agencies today (01) from the parking area near the Secretariat.

Nineteen vehicles were released today, with approximately 15 collected by officials from the relevant agencies who arrived after prior notice.

The returned vehicles included eight from the Road Development Authority (RDA), three from the Ministry of Finance, and one each from the Southern Provincial Council, the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation and the Department of Wildlife Conservation.

I thought they were going to auction these vehicles and with that money provide the government high officials with three wheelers.. So disappointed..

The list contained a considerable number of gas guzzling luxury vehicles. Therefore it makes absolutely no sense returning them to any government institution. What's going on here???

It was just drama to show people that something was been done by AKD soon as he came to power. This was published via mainstream and social media. Since that hype has gone down and a new topic has emerged the vehicles are given back to the relevant officials without much publicity about it. So, back to square one in reality as a country whilst the idiotic NPP baiyas thinks that a huge progress has been done...

I agree. As a solution, they can sell those, and buy hybrids or other economical models, saving people's tax money. I hope we can be fairly confident that someone in their ranks would come with that or a better solution.

I am sure they are not going to use the super luxury only the standard sedans, d/cabs ect. Super lux vvehicles is a problem

I think all the people here are from another world without any basic knowledge on what's happening around Sri Lanka. FYI these vehicles were used by those who supported Ranil. Eg: sanath Nishantha wife. If these vehicles are given to those who are in need in govt. Departments what's wrong in that??

Give them a little credit. Besides, they know that their progress would be watched closely. Auctioning is a solution definitely. Hopefully this option was evaluated for the bottom line. RDA needs only double cabs for official work. Prado V8 is a white elephant for public institutional use. These department heads should not be given them.
