Wanindu Hasaranga steps down from T20I captaincy

Colombo, July 11 (Daily Mirror) - Wanindu Hasaranga has decided to resign as the captain of the National Men’s T20I, the Sri Lanka Cricket said.

Hasaranga said it is in the best interest of Sri Lanka Cricket that he decided to relinquish the captaincy duties and remain in the side as a player.

“Sri Lanka will always have my utmost best efforts as a player, and I will support and stand by my team and leadership as always,” said Wanindu Hasaranga in his resignation letter.

Accepting his resignation, Sri Lanka Cricket emphasised that Hasaranga will remain a pivotal player in the nation’s international cricketing strategies.

Hasaranga is a good cricketer. There are inborn talents in the captaincy which Hasaranga lacks. May be he will learn more about it in the future. His move back in to the team is a good one that shows his courage, participation and maturity. Everything in Sri Lanka is either politized and or run by idiots. This joker was asked to step down coz there was too much public anger on slc. In order to divert the attention this stunt was carried out. The LPL also has very limited public appeal with all the current situation so this was purely a media stunt. Seriously there is no any captain material in the SL team as of now. Surely this will go to some existing pot bearer of slc again now.
