Colombo, June 10 (Daily Mirror) - The gunman responsible for the killing of underworld figure Saman Rohitha Perera alias  ‘Pas Podda’ in Gampaha in 2022 was arrested by immigration officials at the Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake upon his return to the country. 

‘Pas Podda’ was fatally shot at while two others were injured, near the Gampaha Magistrate’s Court on July 30, 2022.

The assailant, identified as 28-year-old Awishka Madhusankha from Kimbulapitiya, Negombo, was arrested this morning and handed over to the Gampaha police. 

Following the shooting, Madhusankha reportedly fled to Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates.

The Gampaha Magistrate's Court had imposed a travel ban on the suspect and the officers of the Immigration Department identified him on his return and arrested him.
