Water levels in Castlereagh, Maussakale dropping rapidly

Due to the extremely dry weather prevailing in the western slopes of the Central hills, the water level in Castlereagh and Maussakale reservoirs is dropping rapidly, Engineers in charge of these reservoirs said.

Reservoir engineers claimed that by 6 a.m., today the water level of the Castlereagh reservoir had dropped by 25 feet from the overflow level, and the water level of the Maussakale reservoir had dropped by 23 feet from the overflow level.

Although the water level of both the reservoirs has dropped rapidly, the hydroelectric power plant engineers said that there is currently no obstacle to the daily hydropower generation.

These guys never have a plan for Water management - during the rainy seasons and use it during dry season.

This country is an interesting place. One week of rain, you have massive floods. Two weeks of no rain, it has severe drought. This is insane. Year after year, this the story. Such a small country. Where is water management strategies?

How many decades more will it take for our people to realize that hydro power is not going to last that long? We have scorching sun these days, mind blowing wind from another side, harness it ! Nuclear? We are a bit small in size for it ain’t we?

Does not matter for these dams having lower water. It's hardly a matter, but running full for Hydro generation is all that matters.

“Does not matter for these dams having lower water”!!?? If you do that, “Mud and Silt” at the bottom of the Tank/Dam/Reservoir, be drawn into the Penstocks and Hydro Electric Propulsion Turbines!!?? Very Clever – ‘Match Over’, then you need to clean “Penstocks, Turbines” RESTART, again spending USD 1 or 2 M., hard earned Foreign Exchange? Water for “Clean-Up Process”, available only long after next bout of Rain occurs, when silt infusion takes place! NO Generation until then!!?? To repair damage caused to Turbines if it becomes necessary – couple of USD 100 M., damaged units!! People devoid of Knowledge making comments, is NOT very helpful!? Leave that to highly paid Hydraulic Engineers and Professionals’ Decision!? As the adage goes, “STITCH IN TIME SAVES NINE”!!??
