Colombo, September 14 (Daily Mirror)- A National People's Power (NPP) government will eradicate the drug menace which has created serious consequences in the country, NPP Presidential candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake said today.
Addressing a rally in Anuradhapura, he said the distribution of drugs in different parts of the country is done with the patronage of politicians.
"Politicians are behind the transportation of drugs in the country. Several politicians were caught recently while transporting drugs and cannabis in their jeeps," he said.
Dissanayake said children have become victims of the drug menace and said the whole family falls into distress when children get addicted to drugs.
"This Anuradhapura sacred city was very peaceful in the past where anyone could come and enjoy for days without any fear. We used to come here with our kids and stay for days. Now, drugs are rampant in the city," he said.
He said the NPP is neither scared nor indebted to anyone, adding that the NPP is the only government which can eradicate the drug menace.
Dissanayake said the NPP will grant the freedom to the police to maintain law and order and pointed out that security provided to politicians will be removed, unless they have security threats.

One of your sisters asserts that Sri Lanka will be converted into an atheist state. Another brother of your party goes derides the sacred bo-tree. Now you talk about the sacred city of Anuradhapura. Hypocrisy galore. Any way you can have some fun until 21. Once you wake up on 22, you will find it difficult to digest the reality!

Don’t make malicious statements It is very obvious that your motive is to spread the hatred and religious disharmony. For years and decades the power greedy politicians spread and highlight communal and racial issues whilst campaigning for the elections Besides The NPP has clearly stated its stance on the Buddhism in election manifesto. Thus it has been clearly elaborated in the presence of chief prelates of Malwathu and Asgiri chapters Remember that true and genuine devotees are not disseminating hatred and uncomplimentary statements

@Kondaya77, is it difficult to identify drug addicts? In our area, all of them wear red caps, red t-shirts, zero cleanliness, they smell bad and keep uttering AKD is going to win.

For (i) Collecting 500 US $ each from Sri Lankan's who have migrated or abroad. (ii) Printing money (SL) resulting inflation (iii) Sell whatever available (iv) Take over all the Fixed deposits of Sri Lankans. (v) Money that swindled or illegally earned, to be made legal for using for government expenses. (vi) Devolution of Judicial power to carders with dispute resolution councils, like in 1988-90. (vii) Allowing loans for public without any guarantor so that the depositors will have no money in their accounts.

What we know is that his economic team does not know even the basics in economics and finance. It is unfortunate that many people believe these people could do a good to the economy and country. They even do not know that the role of the policy rate decided by the central bank. They plan to keep it stable. It is like driving a vehicle keeping the steering wheel untouched.

It's better they lack that knowledge so that they can take advice from some knowledgeable person, so that there is a check and balance and some transparency. Also, we know what the so-called experts did to Central Bank, and there was a person with Phd in Economics who wrote footnote. We need a change!

I have already pointed out several times that the presidential candidates should be cautious with their big-mouthed political promises and improvements to the people!!! Anura Kumara is also constantly outdoing himself with what he wants to improve or change!!! The "eradication" of the drug problem is also one of these carelessly made promises of a policy that unthinkingly promises improvements that will fail in reality!!! Anura Kumara will certainly provide the police and other authorities with every conceivable control mechanism so that Sri Lanka can achieve what no other country in the world has managed to do so far!!! Eliminate the drug problem and close the sources from which it arises!!!

Oh yeah. We know. From our experience with JVP subversives in the 1980s. JVP rules by killing, thuggery and ruthlessness. This is how they will rule if they have power. President Premadasa finished them off but now they have come up again as NPP. Sri Lankans have a short memory. Perhaps they have to experience the 80s all over again to appreciate the freedoms they have now.

People should try to understand the points he is making here, for everything just writing negative remarks doesn’t help the society. Do you think the present politicians who is running the country will stop the big cats who are behind the drug coming to this country where they are part of it. Only those who are not part of it can stop it. That is the message here, get it?

When drugs are free flowing to this country, do you people think can live peacefully? Can we raise our children safe or can we live in our house peacefully. The main reason the theft is high now due to drug addicts. It is high time to put a stop to big cats who are bringing or supporting drug coming to this country.

The main culprits are the unemployed and three wheel driver types, who do not want to work hard or pay taxes. Just want everything to be provided free by the state. Which is what AKD is pro missing and we will become a failed state like Cuba.

But you are spending heavily for marketing purpose both online and offline. Who is funding your campaign? Looks like either extremist elements living overseas are funding your campaign or drug dealers are funding your campaign. Dilith Jayaweera raised this question many times but cunning Anura is keeping quiet. Also cunning Anura has to reveal how his wife bought a house without doing a job and without a loan.

Desperate to win - Shooting lies Sunday, 15 September 2024 08:47 AM
This man is no different than Sajith. Keeps promising impossible tasks like bringing sun and moon down from sky to make people happy. Is there a country anywhere in the world that has eliminated drugs completely? Look at the pathetic state of USA and many other countries with drug related crimes. It's no secret that in UK, children as young as 13, 14 years are involved in drug trafficking and they carry knives at all times. If AKD can eradicate drugs from this soil completely, he will be the modern day Shakra Deviyo.

Big mouth = total lies Sunday, 15 September 2024 10:44 AM
Same as this man's fake promises, the crowds attending to his meetings are also fake. If one area can be filled with such a large crowd just for few hours, I wonder if there will be any people remaining in houses in that particular area. The actual number of people living in the area is not that much. Don't these people go for work? Don't they have jobs to attend? How can they find time to spare in working days? I have noticed that most of the people have blank faces and not paying attention to what the candidate say. It's like they have been forced to attend meetings with the promise of something in return. The bogus NPP offices all over the country are another drama. Fake offices in abandoned small sales outlets and boutiques tells the story. AKD, you're not different than any other corrupt politicians. Period!

Oh, the irony of this headline! Of course we know that you aren't scared of anyone because, scaring (or terrorising) people is the JVP's trademark. And eradicate the drug menace? I'd like to see that! The majority of your fans form the largest percentage of drug thugs in this country. Could we please focus on education and health reforms and tos these rubbish sensationalist headlines into the bin? People are sick and tired of your dramatic promises which seem to be intended as a distraction from the real issues for which you have ZERO plans. All you and your henchmen are interested is a power and money grab.
