Webb Ellis Cup to be on display in Colombo, Kandy

The Webb Ellis Cup, awarded to the winners of the Rugby World Cup, will be on display for public viewing in Colombo and Kandy starting this weekend.

The cup is scheduled to be on display at the Race Course Grounds on Saturday (18) from 3 p.m., before being moved to the CR & FC grounds on Sunday (19).

It will be open to public viewing at Longdon Place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The cup will then be taken to Kandy, where it will be on display at the Nittawela Sports Club, home of Kandy SC, on February 22 from 10 a.m.

It is learnt that the National Sports Council had been instrumental in facilitating the cup tour in Sri Lanka, but the governing body of the sport in the country Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) had not been invited to take part.

The cup tour is sponsored by Mastercard, who are a worldwide partner of the Rugby World Cup 2023 to be played in France.
