The Wellamadama premises of the Ruhunu University were temporarily closed due to a tense situation prevailed between the students and the villagers, sources said.

Half of the universities should be closed as higher education is not contributing anything to the economy. Instead it is better to train these students for mid level technical jobs where they can be employed abroad (instead of sensing rural women as domestics)
