Wickramabahu Karunaratne passes away



Colombo, July 25 (Daily Mirror) - New Sama Samaja Party leader Dr. Wickramabahu Karunaratne has passed away at the age of 81.

He was born on March 8, 1943 in the Lunugala area.

He received his primary education from Ananda College, Matugama and his secondary education from Ananda Vidyalaya, Colombo.

He also managed to get a first class pass in Electrical Engineering. Karunaratne received a Commonwealth scholarship to study at Cambridge University and obtained a PhD in 1970. 

Later, Wickramabahu Karunaratne came to Sri Lanka and started an academic career and he was also a strong activist in left-wing politics.
