Will change any law hindering equal application to all communities: President



The government is committed to build a country with a law which is applied to all Sinhala, Tamil and Muslims equally, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said today.

Colombo, October 23 (Daily Mirror)- Speaking at an election rally in Trincomalee, he said people in Trincomalee district have a special responsibility to form a government which promotes peace while ending the era of divisions.

"We will build a country with the law which is applied to all Sinhala, Tamil and Muslims equally. We will change any laws which hinder such moves and build a country where everyone could proudly say "I am Sri Lankan"," he said.

He said people in the North have a huge awakening towards the National People's Power (NPP) after the victory of the presidential election.

The President said only the NPP could form a government with the blessing and trust of all Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim communities.
