Colombo, September 12 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Presidential candidate Namal Rajapaksa pledged to turn Sri Lanka into a developed nation in Asia in ten years’ time.
Rajapaksa, who was speaking during a rally in Agalawatta, said he has undertaken the task of developing the nation and will create a better future for the nation.
He ensured that a future SLPP government will support the local farmers by ensuring fair and stable prices for their produce such as tea, pepper and milk.
“We believe that the fertiliser subsidy should also be provided to tea small holders. We work according to a planned programme. We are a principled political party. Therefore, we work according to a plan. We assure you that we will fulfill the responsibility of transforming Sri Lanka into a developed country in Asia within the next 10 years,” he added.
“I have created a political force with a group of principled politicians needed to build this country in a difficult time and a challenging period,” he further said.

Downsize Your Family Wealth Instead Of Bragging Friday, 13 September 2024 06:26 AM
Hasn’t this family been told or advised by their party that most people of SL so despise them? Within a few years they have accumulated so much wealth and living the luxurious lifestyle but the average citizen is struggling to make ends meet. Can’t they understand how come they are filthy rich without working hard and those working their butts off hardly make enough and has countless struggles in life. If they are so concerned about the living standards of the people, they should downsize their wealth NOW and use the excess money to make “Sri Lanka Great Again”!

How ignorant you are - your uncle led this once developing country into bankruptcy within two years after coming to power under SLPP and your newfound uncle after entering from the back door again with the unstinted support of the SLPP struck a deal with the IMF and made this country a debtor to foreign donors until 2048 restricting the status of the country as a least developing country until then and how on earth can you make the country a developed one before that?

Putha you had plenty opportunities to prove yourself, however what you proved about yourself was exactly opposite. You too are all about corruption, to look after your family and your henchmen. Make no apologies you need to find another job. That’s the ugly truth for you, none to be blamed but you. I wish if Sarath F comes into power. He will clean up the system in no time!

My Dear Namal; If Rajapaksas return over US$ 50.0 billion stolen money and their stooges return their loot as well and stop looting anymore, Sri Lanka would be a developed nation today.

The politicians in SL are a rare breed, can say do what they want, they are like the kings of old, unlimited power accountable to no one, with one exception, the kings of old wanted to preserve their kingdoms, the politicians want to hand it over to the first person from whom they can borrow .Before you can develop a country with no resources(bankrupt) please show us how you can develop a village without resources, make that your pilot project, plenty of villages in the country crying for development

I think what Namal meant to say was in fact that: he will convert Sri Lankan assets and finances into his personal bank account within 1 year. What a brazen fellow this guy is that he has no shame to go campaign for a position that he will, without any doubt at all, abuse.

What the more experienced father failed to do the inexperienced son is promising to do. You are likely to develop your self to be the richest person in Asia if our voters cast their votes for you. That will not happen. You are likely to end up behind bars when the corruption investigations commences.

Yes, we had an opportunity if had not given such political power to rajapakshas, as we all know, your family intention happened to be, plunder the country as much as possible, that’s the end of your future in politics, when your father and uncles treacherously looting national wealth, while allowing you too join them by that they shut your political future, people know well, your association in looting ,never think of coming back,or not immediately but chances are there if NPP takes wrong turn

When did his beliefs change. Just under three years ago he strongly believed that no chemical fertilizer should be used by anyone. Now he "believes that the fertiliser subsidy should also be provided to tea small holders". Forked tounge or lunacy? Has he lost his marbles after teaming up with Sajith in their joint effort to ensure Ranil is defeated? Both of them will be in for a surprise as the silent masses will show them otherwise.

Namal, What nonsense are you imagining now? Are you trying to ignore that in the 10 Years plus your family was in power, you people together brought Sri Lanka to total economic ruin? Now you want the voters to believe you with a cock and bull promise like this? Luckily for you, being unintelligent is not a crime.

Namal's statement: we are working according to plan, reflects exactly what the Rajapaksa's policy has been for more than a decade in the country! The aim was never to make Sri Lanka a developed country, but their actions were always determined by the family motto: we will enrich ourselves wherever and however we can, for as long as we can, even if we drive the country "into the ground" in the process!!! And they did it!!! For the majority of people in Sri Lanka, the Rajapaksa years were "robber barons", years, years marked by corruption and enrichment!!! Future generations will have to pay for the damage caused!!! If people like Namal strive for power again, alarm bells must be ringing loudly for all potential voters in the country!!!

Your current lack of support for the presidential election stems directly from the disastrous legacy left by your family, Mahinda, Gotabaya, Basil, and their henchmen. Their reckless mismanagement has left the nation in ruins, and the fallout is now squarely on your shoulders for the election campaign. Despite your promises, the nation remembers the past and the ongoing hardships.
