Will take all possible actions to defeat attempts to incite racism: PM

Colombo, December 03 (Daily Mirror)- The government will take all possible actions to defeat attempts by various groups that were defeated through the political transformation, to incite racism for their petty political gains, Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya said today.
She told Parliament that the mandate of the government has clearly given a message that people refuse racism and that they are not ready to accept the moves to divide and separate people for their political needs.
The Prime Minister stressed that the government will not leave room for racism at any cost.
She said the country has received a historic opportunity to unite and that the government will never miss this opportunity.
"Our people are asking us to be different. They have made a bold choice and it is up to us to respond to that call and take up that challenge. I call upon everyone to understand the historical significance of this moment and take up the challenge that the people have put before us. Listen to what the people are telling us. Let us collectively make this country a better place," she said.
