Woman hacked to death near church over nightclub dispute



Colombo, May 28 (Daily Mirror) - A 36-year-old woman was found hacked to death near a church in Liyanagemulla, Seeduwa, believed to be as a result of a dispute stemming from a night club altercation.

Police said the woman, an employee of the Katunayake Free Trade Zone, was found killed early this morning.

Investigations revealed that the victim woman had started working in the Katunayake Free Trade Zone about 6 years ago and later had been staying temporarily in a hostel in Seeduwa with a person who works in a tourist hotel in the same area.

It was reported that she had an argument with the man based on an incident at a nightclub. Police found CCTV footage of the victim and the man walking in front of St. Sebastian's Church between 2:00 am and 3:00 am today.

The Negombo Acting Magistrate visited the scene and conducted an on-site inspection, and her body has been sent to the Negombo Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Seeduwa Police are investigating the incident.
