Women officers take charge of key Police Divisions



Sri Lanka Police to implement special ...Colombo, Dec 03 (Daily Mirror) - For the first time in Sri Lanka's police history, several female officers have been appointed to senior positions in key divisions, including the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and the Special Investigation Unit.

A total of 54 senior police officers, including four women, have been transferred with immediate effect under the approval of the National Police Commission. Among the transfers, four Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs) are also included.

Among the female appointments, SSP H.W.I.S. Muthumala, previously the Deputy Director of the CID, has been promoted as Director of the CID, replacing SSP E.M.M.S. Dehideniya. Dehideniya has been transferred to take charge of the Nugegoda Division as the new SSP. 

SSP H.M.L.R. Amarasena from the Police Headquarters has been appointed as the Director of the Special Investigation Unit. SSP R.A.D. Kumari, formerly of the Cyber Crimes Investigation Unit, has been appointed as the Commanding Officer of the Police Field Force Headquarters.

SSP P.G.S. Gunathilake has also been transferred, now serving as the Director of the Medical Services Division, after previously heading the IGP's Secretary Division.
