Yukthiya operation: Lodge complaints if property damages occur: Wijeyadasa

Colombo, Dec.29 (Daily Mirror) - If there are any instances of property damages during the island-wide special operation 'Yukthiya,' Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, responsible for Justice, Prisons Affairs and Constitutional Reforms, urged the public to lodge complaints at the police relief station, reach out to the Human Rights Commission or seek assistance from the court.

He informed the media that the police do not engage in search operations without prior information.

"If the police are carrying out such search operations, it indicates that they possess substantial information about their targets or have the authority to address prolonged illegal activities," he remarked.

While acknowledging the challenges faced by the public during this special operation, he emphasized that the operation persists for the betterment of society and to safeguard children from falling prey to illicit activities.

Highlighting the government's duty to uphold the law, he regretted that this responsibility was addressed belatedly, necessitating a large-scale operation. Nevertheless, he emphasized that the operation has been undertaken for the collective welfare of the populace.
