Popular actress Upeksha Swarnamali of ‘Paba’ fame claims fans of the television series are being misled and made to believe she is back to continue her role. She insists she had not returned since she was removed from the series following her decision to support Presidential candidate General Sarath Fonseka.
Upeksha told Daily Mirror online that some old scenes played by her in ‘Paba’ and telecast several months ago, were now being integrated to the ongoing story and the script changed accordingly to give the audience an impression that she was back in the TV series.
Upeksha said she thoroughly condemned such low-grade tactics and urged her fans not to be misled by such ploys.

State-run-tv stations , not like private ones are funded by govt i.e taxes from the people who are not constituent of one political party. So they sh'd be neutral or moderate in every aspect of their views & acts. unfortunately in SL so called govt -run mass media ars bias towards the party in power. Mr Nimal Siripala De Silva recently said hear after relief -bag -of- fertilizer will not provided to the farmers who vote against MR. people gathered clapped for the saying. wo'd such thing can be happened in western country. Who pay the taxes, people or ministers or people of one political party?.

If one is scared to express his or her opinion or being intimidated when a stand is taken that means we are living under a tyranny and not a democracy. When that happens it is time that everybody take stand to defeat ther dictatorship.

How many of her fans going to vote on her advice or on her performance? This is a sharp blow to the intellect of the voters! What sort of influence she will have on the electorate if Chandrika declares neutrality! Will she vote or abstain or make her vote invalid?

This is the first time in this country we have heard of a vindictive government interfering in a simple teledrama to take revenge from an actress who has supported a political candidate of her choice. At this rage no one will be spared and they will start with punishing public servants too for their political beliefs. Anyway, I am sure Paba will have to undergo another change of script after the 27th. Wel, if Upeksha decided to fall in line with Tharunyata Hetak just like the other shameless actors, she would have not only got financial benefits but also an extended role in Paba!
