Man stabs lover and commits suicide
An ambulance driver committed suicide after stabbing his lover, a nurse, to death at the Katuwana Hospital last night, police said.
The nurse, a mother of two, was employed at the same hospital and was living together with the driver for a considerable time whilst abandoning their homes.
The victim had committed suicide after he mistakenly believed that the nurse had succumbed to her stab injuries. According to the Police a brother of the nurse had forced the two to stop the relationship and this created animosity among the two.
It was also revealed at the time of his death, the ambulance driver had filed for divorce from his wife the police said. (By Supun Dias)
