Army to intensify arresting deserters

The Army will intensify the island wide search to arrest army deserters, while 11officers and 4816 army personnel have come forward during the concessionary period given by the army to leave the army lawfully, Military spokesman Major General Ubaya Madawela told Daily Mirror online

He added that, 12 officers and 4630 army personnel have so far been arrested by the army for deserting the military and action will be taken against them according to the military procedures and laws. (Daily Mirror online)

extremely higher number of deserters. Does it mean that the army or security forces not appropriate? Or these people no something to tell than the official version of the govt.?
