The Sabaragamuwa University had been closed with immediate effect till July 21 due to the inclement weather, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Chandana Udawatta said.

The roofing of one of the university hostel had been ripped off due to the strong winds and the students had been asked to vacate the hostel immediately.(Prince Ratnayeka)

I might suggest it was poor construction of a roof that could not withstand moderate winds. But, do you shut down an entire university because of one hostel?

no. that is not a moderate wind. i experienced it the other day and it was very hard and frightning.

That was not a moderate wind and see the damages happened due to the wind. Also the power supply is partially paralyzed and how can the students stay at the campus premises. The university was shut down not just one hostel but also considering all these factors.
