Be alert as Mervyn has opened his mouth-Hakeem

Sri Lanka Muslim Congress ( SLMC) Leader and Minister Rauff Hakeem cautioned media personnel to keep an eye on their camera equipment because Minister Mervyn Silva, who is the Kelaniya SLFP Organiser, has now begun talking after remaining silent for some time.
“My friend, the Kelaniya SLFP organiser remained silent for the past few months claiming that planetary movements are not in his favour. But he seems to have found his voice again and it is an indication for journalists to be on the alert and be cautious about their camera equipment,” Mr. Hakeem said.
He said questions about Mervyn Silva’s post of Kelaniya organiser hangs in the balance.
“One never knows whether he will continue to hold that post after the provincial council elections. But because it does not concern me I will not speak about it. I can only hope he will hold this post even after the elections,” Mr. Hakeem said.
If the SLMC too encouraged separatist ideologies promoted by the LTTE, this country would have already been divided
At an election rally at Minuwangoda, Mr. Hakeem referred to a recent comment made by Mr. Silva that he did not wish to see the fate that befell Prabhakaran to befall Mr. Hakeem
“All I have to say to him is that if the SLMC too encouraged separatist ideologies promoted by the LTTE, this country would have been divided. It is because the Muslims objected to such separatism that thousands of Muslims in the Northern and Eastern parts of the country were slain or ousted from their homes by the LTTE,” Mr. Hakeem said.
