Brothers drown while trying to retrieve helmet

Two brothers in their twenties drowned in a lake near the Panankadu Bridge in Akkaraipattu yesterday while trying to retrieve their helmet from the lake, police said.

Police identified the victims as brother aged 21 and 24 of Nawakkadu in Akkaraipattu.Their bodies were sent to the Akkaraipattu hospital morgue.

Meanwhile, two people including a 15 year old boy were killed and one injured due to lightning strikes in Meepawala and Kirindalahena in Galle, police said.

The injured was admitted to the Karapitiya hospital for further treatment.
