Former Deputy Minister Chandana Kathriarachchi who pleaded guilty for unlawful assembly near the Nampamunuwa murder site was sentenced to five months rigorous imprisonment suspended for ten years by the Colombo High Court today.

The Attorney General earlier withdrew two charges including committing grievous injury and causing murder that had been filed against former PA MP Chandana Katriarachchi and three others in the Nampamunuwa murder case after they pleaded guilty for one charge of unlawful assembly. (LS)

Hats off to the Judges of the Colombo High Court who gave this verdict. It would have taken a great deal of courage to do so as this character is close to the Rajapakse family.
