Chandralal to remain silent
Matara Municipal Council UPFA member Raj Chandralal said he would keep silent until the presidential election was over but said his decision to back common opposition candidate Maithripala Sirisena had not changed.
Mr. Chandralal had on December 4 publicly pledged his support for Mr. Sirisena after which the President is reported to have told Mr. Chandralal that he could work for Colombo if he could not work for Matara.
“I told the President that I will remain silent,” he said.
