A Chinese employee who was attached to the Norochcholai thermal power project was suddenly taken ill on Monday night (09) and died on admission to the Puttalam Base Hospital, Kalpitiya police said

The employee identified as Zhan Zaz Rui had fallen unconscious around 7pm and admitted to Puttalam hospital. The inquiries revealed that he had attended a dinner party on the previous day (08) at the worksite organised by the Chinese workers.

The body was referred to the Kuliyapitiya Base Hospital for postmortem examination. Police said they would conduct further inquiries after the postmortem examination and the arrival of the deceased’s relatives. (Augustine Fernando)
