CID retrieves more ATM cards from Ukrainians

The CID investigating into the arrest of the three Ukrainians who were in possession of credit cards have recovered 71 more credit cards, a machine used to activate ATM cards, three mobile phones, a laptop and more than Rs.3 million in cash along with foreign currency notes, police said.

These credit cards, money and apparatus were found by the CID when searching the hotel room in Kaluthara North where they were staying.

These Ukranians were arrested yesterday for allegedly in possession of credit cards and money.

Be careful when allowing the foreigners in to the country. Already we have lot of local criminals in our country and under the guise of bringing more Tourists don't import foreign criminals as well. Yesterday Nigerians today Ukrainians tomorrow who else God only knows.

Only cheap tourist come to this country. they hardly spend and some even steal from us before they go. the government doesn't seem to have a strategy to bring up the industry.

We get cheap tourists because we go to cheap countries to promote such crooks and tourists...Like Uganda, Iran, Africa etc....Ask our Boss to go to Europe to promote..No chance

There are a lot of East European criminals invading every country. Its difficult to differentiate the good ones from the bad.
Eternal vigilance by law enforcement is the only remedy. There is nothing called a" cheap tourist'. All tourists pay their air fare to get here and then pay for hotels and food. The difference is budget tourists , who use package tours and high end (wealthy) tourists who travel independently .

Once at the Katunayake airport an Ukrainian couple was caught robbing three leather purses. But until I made a big fuss on behalf of the poor sales girl, neither the airport security, air force personnel nor the police at the Police post did anything. This is an invitation for the worlds rogues to come here. Inaction of the authorities.
