Three Directors of the CIFL finance company, who appeared before Fort magistrate for allegedly defrauding depositor’s money, were released on bail after undertaking to pay back the depositor’s money.

The three Directors were released on a personal bail of one million each.(Lakmal Sooriyagoda)

The directors of Golden Key also were release under similar conditions but the depositors have still not been paid. Sounds like a cover up!

Bottom line is Central Bank has duped the common man to allow CIFL to rob their hard earned savings by publishing CIFL as an approved finance company. Govt mush punish not only the culprits but others who were promoting CIFL on govt radio, SLBC Chairman as well as Santh J MP for taking advertising money from CIFL & promoting the fraudulent company

The Central Bank also needs to be questioned and warned by the Magistrate in failing to properly monitor the funds in this establishment which is licensed under Central Bank regulations.

This is undiluted eyewash. Golden Key crashed in 2008, but Lalith Kotelawala and the directors are still as free as birds. 26 billion bucks defrauded. Poor depositors are committing suicide buy the crooks are leading luxurious lives. Where the justice? Where is fairplay? Money talks a language everbogy understands. CIFL deposiors will also have suffer enormously

I wish to share my personal experience with CIFL.

I deposited 1M last year for 12months which was maturing in December 2012. Luckily the sales person left the company and advised me in August 2012 that company is facing financial problem and do not extend and collect FD.

So I went on December to collect and they said directors are not there to sign chq and will release oon 31/12.

So I went around 1100 on 31st and I had to till 1800hrs. I had to argue with them and had to park my vehicle on the gate where no body can go.

So there was a smart Marketing Manager came and told me that he will info police for blocking the entrance. I accepted and told him that I too wanted to call police for not releasing my payment. This guy tried fast, but not with me.

Finally I got my money and interest for 7days too paid after they got to know my position.

But I feel sorry for the people who come and wait for long hours and go without money of their hard earning.

The CB should monitor these private company whether they fulfil customer and not ignore.

I got because of my back ground and could speak English as well as I discourage people.

I am sure CIFL will not be a in problem if the Group Chariman Deepthi Perera did not waste his money on his private island, private villas in Worldsend and private parties and racing cars, He lived a extrvagant life style wasting moeny of depositors.
