SF wants three Commanders removed

Former Army Commander General Sarath Fonseka said the commanders of the three armed forces must be expelled for having allegedly planning a post-election coup.

He said disciplinary action should be taken against the three commanders for attempting to launch a coup led by former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

“Though they were unable to carry out their plans at the last moment, action should still be taken against them,” General Fonseka told a news conference held at Democratic Party Head office in Colombo.

He said he had not attended the Independence Day ceremony because the Chief of Defence Staff and the Army Commander who gave false evidence against him were there. (Lahiru Pothmulla)
