Democracy dying – Mangala
Opposition strongman Mangala Samaraweera on his return from CID after making a statement a short while ago said questioning him for three hours over a poster indicates the decline in democracy in Sri Lanka.

Democracy never dies....it is merely the practice of it, the fight for it, its upkeep that falls by the way side. Truth be told...our people as a whole see little intrinsic value in the concept of democracy. For if they did...they would never allow for the scope of what prevails today. Perhaps one day further along, they will wake up and realise that they are entitled to a lot more. All these parties play games with words and ideals. The are power-mongerers.

MR never told that he would safeguard the democracy in any of the public rallies that he addressed.If you have a healthy set of ears, you should have heard the word "PRAJACHANTHRAVADYA" . Not "PRAJATHANTRHAVADAYA" However the beginning of the dying of democracy started under the regime of CBK and you did an excellent job to bury the freedom of expression as the most powerful minister.Now you are tasting your own food.
