Five people were killed when they were buried under amound of earth this morning at Haliela in Badulla.

The tragedy occurred when the mound of loosened earth collapsed on their homes as a result of the torrential rains in the area.

The Sri Lanka Army, Badulla Police and the Badulla Fire Brigade are continuing search operations to locate several more still reported missing.(Palitha Ariyawansa)
