Eateries sealed

Seven eateries in Colombo have been sealed after tests revealed the outlets had used water contaminated with fecal substances to prepare meals, the Environmental Protection Police Unit said.

The eateries are located in Pettah, Dematagoda, Keselwatte and Grandpass and cases will be filed against their owners.

Public health inspectors of the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC), quality control officers and the Environmental Protection Police Unit had carried out raids in several eateries in Colombo recently and had taken samples of water used at the eateries.

Tests conducted at CMC laboratories revealed that the water was contaminated with fecal substances.
