Don't forget we export drivers to Middle East where they drive over 200 KMPH already. Unfortunately, some people inside think like “lin-madiya”.

Too fast to start with. This kind of speed should only be for well planned motorways with the option for a slower lane with no stops and no people around.

in the uk, like in many other developed countries, we have motorways! vehicles travel at 70-80mph (110 - 130 kmph), and thats not only for buses - thats for everyone. no traffic, no stops, just cruise! really god for fuel economy, and people can get to their destinations a lot quicker. motorways are safer than normal roads, because there are three lanes, no stops, no interruptions, and people drive in their lanes!
anyways, its all good if the same is happening in SL? but are the roads ready for it? more importantly, are the bus drivers sane enough? can they keep in lane without cutting others off? have the buses had regular check ups?
i dont believe in god - but all i can say is, only god knows!

China has great transport services; at least in urban areas. They don't import buses and trains from anywhere. They manufacture them.

Dear Minister, make sure these bus drivers are well versed with the road Courtesy rules. Not only on the expressway, on any other roads too. Once they are on the driving seat, they think they are the King of the road.

Dear Indi,
We, the Buddhists, who follow the damma have faith in 'skilfull and unskilfull' thinking or actions. It is not negative or positive thinking, which is the way the science defines. This is the puzzle which became the missery of Sygmond Froyd. He ended up agreeing with the former conclution, which is the 'Four Noble Truths'. (Chahtura Aariya Sathya)

Our drivers do not know the road rules to drive on normal urban and non urban roads, and most of the Police out on traffic duties are non the wiser.
As such putting any type of motorised vehicle on the expressway/freeway/motorway, would be a sure way of reducing the population and increasing the use of hospital beds. Motor cycles below 50CC, 3 wheelers bicycles and Learner drivers should be banned from using these roads.
The minister of Transport should look into how users of these new roads and the traffic police could be educated on the rules and etiquette of expressway use, before allowing vehicles to use them. In addition suitably capable high speed Police cars with trained drivers should also be available for patrolling. Simply sending a Policeman to stand on the road side or travel on his motorcycle may not be sufficient.

Emmanuel Tuesday, 15 March 2011 09:22 AM
I the 100 kph far too fast for this southern high way. Look at countries such as Sweden with less population (9.5 million) and with an area (449964 square kilometers) bigger than Srilanka (65610 square kilometers) is trying too reduce the speed limits. The maximum on certain roads are only 120. Many other intercity roads are 110 kph and most roads the size of our southern express way the speed limit would be less than 80kph. This has brought down the ACCIDENT RATE TO THE BEAR MINIMUM! Some thing to think about!

Authorities have to monitor the vehicles using this highways with some new techniques such as saterlites rather than by traditional traffic policesmen who used to hide under trees & bushes by the roads.

Are these people insane !!! Especially the transport Minister Kumara Welgama. at the moment these bus drivers drive at the speed of 100kmph and there are many deaths occurring. why couldn't he tell 200kmph instead of that. these people are clearly out of their mind.
