Fire at Norochcholai plant

A fire broke out in the Norochcholai Thermal Power plant at about 11am today. It originated in the coal storage of the main kiln. The employees however managed to douse the fire and to prevent it from spreading to other areas of the project. A senior official of the CEB said the Power Plant was functioning as usual. Coal is carbon, and reacts with O2 in air which is an exorthermic reaction. This takes coal to flash point and catches fire. Better store coal in a O2 free area.

And we are seriously considering nuclear power !

When the whole world is shying away from it.

If this is how we manage a simple coal power plant, just imagine the repercussions of an ill managed, sub standard nuclear power plant.

Chernobyl and Fukushima will be nothing.

Very scientific explanation! But unfortunately the solution suggested is not practical as the very large area of storage to be made free of O2 is very very difficult. To control spreading of Coal dust from storage water is sprinkled and this will help to keep the coal cool as well. There could be shortage of water.
