General Sarath Fonseka was arrested under the Military Act 57 (1) where even a retired military officer can be taken into custody if he had divulged military secrets or acted against the government while serving in the army, Government defence spokesman Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said.
He also said that the former army commander was arrested only yesterday as investigations into his conduct while in the army was launched only after he retired from military service. (SD)

No MR. sarath. He is not a war here (anymore). If you have any doubt, just ask from Ranil, or Sambanthan is he a war hero. Ranil clearly said that he just do the part which he was asigned to do. And the results of N&E results too shows who is the war hero.

Poor rushan, you do not seem to understand what's happening around. You also seem to be blind with your political ideologies. This war hero was the best Army Commander in the world an year ago according to MR and the government circles.Even the entire countrymen sincerely trust that this is the man who engineered the ultimate fall of LTTE. Now all of a sudden he has become a traitor. For what sin? The only crime he committed was coming forward as a candidate against MR. Why? haven't Sri Lankans the right to contest an election. These are clear actions of revenge. We should pity ourselves for having been lived to witness all these stupid doings.

Once upon a time in the kingdom of far-faraway there was war. After 30 yrs of fighting, the king at time and war heroes who fought the war were able to finish it by killing the leaders who lead the rebellion. But the other kingdoms around the world blamed the kingdom of far-faraway for war crimes. But the very kind and sensitive king of that kingdom who doesn’t even know the meaning of hatred speaking to his countrymen while beating his chest with his hands said “if anyone wants to punish the great heroes of our country, that it will only happen over my dead body”. The countrymen were very delighted and hailed the king as god in disguise. The funny thing is that person who led the rebellion against this kingdom once said that the majority of that kingdom remembers things only for two weeks. After reading this news article I can’t understand whether that fairytale is actually a fairytale or is it a true story.

This is dirty politics. All the unpopular politicians got together and put a Heroic General in politics. Like Humpty Dumpty, but no one can save him or put him together again. Every minute a sucker is born. It takes so many years to be a General, and in politics it take only one election to down a General to save face for the politicians. We need a truthful and credible Opposition.

No one is surprised. Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. Sri Lanka is going the way of Burma and other failed States. If they continue with this charade, Sri Lanka too wound end up a pariah state in the world community. We are becoming the laughing stock already. Dr. MR should take note.

whats important to know is not who is supportng whom or what as it is not us who personaly benefit or not from these politicians, what we need to remember is that we have gone to the lowest of depths in our history. we have reached the lowest that we can and we must remember that there are many negative sayings about or society such as how un united we are and that we forget in 2 weeks. what a sick bunch of people we are, 6 months a go we are united in defeating a terrorist outfit and the leaders of the military are obvious heroes. 6 months after half of the country calls him and treats him like an animal, what are we? what are our values? who is responsible for what we think and how the country is now? over to you srilankans, do we have real indipendance, are we proud sri lankans
