Football Federation CEO assaulted



Anura de Silva, CEO, Football Federation of Sri Lanka suffered severe head injuries when an unidentified man attacked him on the back of his head with a hockey stick at the FFFSL headquarters at around 7 p.m today.

 

He was rushed to the Colombo National Hospital with heavy bleedings.

 

 He is currently receiving treatment at the Accident Ward of the Colombo National Hospital.


 
The incident occurred when Silva was trying to leave office after a special meeting with FFSL president and secretary regarding Sunday’s Annual General Meeting arrangements.


 
“He is out of danger,” said FFSL chief Ranjith Rodrigo.

 

“We have no idea what the motive behind but we suspect it has some connection to his involvement to football”.
