Fourteen Sri Lankan asylum seekers who allegedly sailed to Australia in a hijacked boat from Kudawella returned this morning in a special flight.

Airport sources said that the suspects including a woman and three children are to be handed over to the Tangalle Police for further investigations.

The group was detected and intercepted northwest of the Cocos Islands by Australian authorities late on Thursday and deported back to Sri Lanka. (Deepa Adhikari)

There was a second timer on that boat who voluntarily returned to Sri Lanka in September. He is now being deported again. Ordinary Australians are fed-up with this.

True, but this is also a result of Australia's dual standard diplomacy, they welcomed refugies at one time. Now it seems the turn of the economic refugies. Australia needs higher level diplomacy to engage Sri Lanka
