every cloud has a silver lining they say...... best way to overcome this is by converting all households to religious places after all almost everyone has a religion and and has place of worship in a corner..so why not make it public! few statues, a cross, a bell and loudspeaker is all it takes! whats more one can make some money by putting a till by the entrance for devotees to donate!

1)Rupee devaluated by the budget as IMF wanted.
2) We spend millions of USD fro lotus tower & other exbiition work
3) Our ministers waste millions of Rupees in their ministries
4) Our leader lives a life that not even Brunei King lives
5) & the result is we suffer. People war is over. Not even those funds used for the WAR is given to people.
6)No wages increased.
7)We have to come to roads like in Nigeria. No option left now to curtail this injustice to poor citizens.

Just how have they made SL a wonder of Asia and how is that related to high fuel prices? Winning the war is not a license to destroy the country.

In fact, this was the Biggest mistake of Chief of Central Bank of Sri Lanka , He tightly controled the Ruppe since 2007 to 2012 against the inflation and suddenly and it was relaxed suddenly and the value of the currency was depreciated at a spped of light and affected the ordinary sri lankan
he should not have done this mistake in 2007,

So according to you, the ppl should accept everything with no questions asked just because the GOVT won the war. Don't get me wrong, winning the war was an exceptional effort, but that alone doesn't justify the mindless corruption & inhuman rate of inflation we have today.

War is not an excuse for bad management of government institutes, public funds and curruption. After the war we wanted to reap the financial benefits on savings, not for the government to rip our gutts off. Ministries are over staffed in addition to wasting money on a zillion ministries. We could have manged this is waste was less. Also, why the increase charged from tonight? Do we have to pay more for the Electricity we consumed prior to fuel hike?

The stock market is crashing, the dollar is at 122 today which means the cost of all imports will be higher.... fuel is increasing, electricity rates are sky rocketing, transportation fares are going up..... and the income stays constant..... What is happening to Sri Lanka.... A change of govt is needed.

This is a huge increase and will be met with stiff resistance from people. I will not be surprised if the government eventually reduces the inccreased percentage by a fraction and make a big show out of it saying that the governement always listens to the voice of the people.
