Prices of domestic LP gas as well as imported milk powder will be increased with effect from midnight today, Consumer Affairs Minister Johnston Fernando said.
Accordingly, the price of a 12.5 kg cylinder would be increased by Rs. 350, while a packet of one kilogram and a packet of 400g of imported milk powder would be increased by Rs. 61 and Rs. 163 respectively.
The Minister also said that the Consumer Affairs Authority has given approval to increase the price of a bag of cement by Rs. 70 as well.
It was only yesterday, the Finance Ministry imposed a levy of 15 per cent or 92 rupees (whichever is higher) on a kilogram of imported milk powder, excepting infant milk powder

You are just talking out of bounds !!! when the war was there they used to say that the levys and taxes and increases in prices are for the funding of the war here we see that military expenditure has increased and all the items increased and more loans!!! with a few new roads

I wonder why the Minister had to wait till 4th May to increase the prices when he could have certainly given the "kamkaru supporters" the bonus on May 1st!

Mr. Modawansa, the gas price increase of Rs. 350 will cost how many betel leaves?
Mr. Badarala, now you tell us the percentage of 'decrease' in the cost of living by your standard.
All dead donkeys in the Opposition, we know you will never wake up for the goodness of common masses.

Why all this noise?? Ha?
How can we develop our country without looking after our ultra intelligent politicians. And looking after our precious super intelligent politicians needs lots of money and therefore prices have to increase a little here and there.
The increase is only worth a few seenibolas anyway.

At least be genuine to cut waste/corruption in essential services provided by Govt of 30-40% which will impact on COL, even if global factors dictate prices.

People elect Mps,Mps become ministers why they are
silent now, how can they go to their respective villages canvass
vote. Have their done anything good for the mass.
That's what say every individual has to find ways to earn
and live.
People must understand no politician can do anything.
We are voting and electing them just to look after their well
being.

Do not blame Mahinda Chindanaya...He is the best president in our history of srilanka who defeat terrorrishm.
Now he face big preasure from western power. But definitely he will win all the enemies and we all enjoy freedom from western power.
Forget about the prices increases....it is not an issue.
we are not somalian or ethiyopian where hundred of thousand people die.
we also should accept to die atleast 25% of our country population die. then only we can talk about mahinda chinthanaya.. we are still save side do not worry....china is our best friend they will support us.
