Geetha noticed to appear in court over dual citizenship

UPFA Galle District MP Geetha Kumarasinghe and three other respondents were noticed to appear in the Appeal Court on October 19 over a petition filed by five voters in the Galle electorate against Ms. Kumarasinghe’s election to parliament.

The petitioners said she was not qualified to be a member of parliament because she was a dual citizen of Sri Lanka and Switzerland.

Controller of Immigration and Emigration, UPFA general secretary and parliament chief secretary are among the other respondents.(Thilini de Silva)

Define dual citizenship privileges please.Once you obtained you have the same rights and privileges as regular citizen who is living in SL ? or is it a just invalided document ?

Simonas per latest amendment dual citizen cannot contest election. not all the privileged as ordinary sri lankan . as dual citizens we have bound by both countries law. when it come to protecting countries ,, which county we should protect ? conflict of interest ,

IF her Swiss citizenship was NOT revoked before the elections she should NOT be in parliament..doesnt matter if she had requested the Swiss authorities to do so earlier...what matters is IF she was a citizen of Swiss or not at the time of elections...
