Geetha wants disciplinary inquiry into brawl at Benthota PS meeting

The Benthara Elpitiya organiser Geetha Kumarasinghe said today that a disciplinary inquiry should be carried out into the incident where PS Chairman Gayan Sirimana and the Vice Chairman Ranjith Wickremesinghe exchanged fisticuffs over an altercation at the finance committee meeting of the Bentota Pradeshiya Sabha last Monday (28).

“A disciplinary inquiry should be carried out over this incident. This vice chairman who crossed over from the UNP has had a bad conduct during the recent past. He always tries to create some sort of an issue with someone. I do not know whether he has undertaken a contract of the UNP to create issues in the UPFA,” she said.

When asked whether she had asked for an inquiry into the incident from the party she said she had not asked for an inquiry as yet.

“I have not asked for an inquiry yet. But as a party we should inquire into this incident and take disciplinary action against them,” Ms. Kumarasinghe said.

The vice chairman who was bleeding from the mouth was admitted to the Bentota Hospital and transferred to the Nagoda Hospital.

The chairman who complained to police that the vice chairman assaulted him causing him injuries was admitted to the Balapitiya Hospital.(Ajith Siriwardana)
