The government says it will respond to the UN on the allegations raised by Presidential candidate Retired General Sarath Fonseka regarding the final stages of the war. Human Rights Minister Mahinda Samarasingha speaking to reporters a short while ago, said that Sri Lanka was now being forced to be examined once again on the International stage as a result of Fonseka’s comments to the media where he had alleged that three senior LTTE officials were shot dead by the army on the orders of the government despite surrendering.

The General however had subsequently denied making such allegations.
