The Government said today that it deals only with the Central Government of India and does not take interests in the activities of single Indian States. Cabinet Spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella made these statements in response to a question on the Tamil Nadu Assembly Resolution to pass economic actions against Sri Lanka.
“The negative statements made by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha Jeyaram and the passing of, what appears to be, an anti Sri Lankan resolution in the TN Assembly this week will take center stage during the talks between the government and a high powered Indian delegation due in Sri Lanka today,” Rambukwella said. The 13th Amendment will also be discussed during the Indian Delegation visit.
Indian Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao, Defence Secretary Pradeep Kumar and Defence Advisor Shiv Shankar Menon are expected to arrive tomorrow and hold talks with President Mahinda Rajapaksa, External Affairs Minister G.L. Peiris and senior government officials including Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
