The Nawala residence of businessman and opposition member Tiran Alles came under a grenade attack early this morning damaging his house and vehicle, an opposition spokesman told Daily Mirror online. Alles had reportedly managed to escape any harm as a result of the attack.
The house and vehicle of Alles, who is the General Secretary of the SLFP Mahajana wing, caught fire after the attack. The fire brigade was called in to douse the flames. (ISA)
Meanwhile speaking to Daily Mirror Tiran Alles said that the main reason behind the attack was that the government thought he was responsible for leaking the photograph of the Presidents son Namal Rajapakse together with LTTE operative Emil Kanthan. (SD)

So much for the "free and fair" election. Is there any limits to the intimidation for an alternative opinion. It looks like we need to change our country's name from "democratic" to "jungle law". How MR, even if he wins, could call him an elected leader?
Unless we come out from these vicius circle ther is no point in going through the painfull election process.
Mohamed.

Hey Suresh,
I understand perfectly your lament. There will never be peace in this country.First we fight with the North, now we fight in the south.By most ,not all comments, seen from above you realize that each one, supposed to be educated ,are fighting each other
Though we claim to have 2500 years of civilization we are still uncivilzed the way we think. So God save Sri Lanka.

Yesterday Tiran has said to newspapers that he is under threat and his life is in danger. This is reported in singhala news paper today. This morning his house was attacked without any casualty.
Who is he going to fool? Public ?
Certainly not. This is age old tested trick by majority mean politicians. Perhaps he is planning to contest next general elections and after certain defeat of presidential election he is trying get cheap publicity.
Public no more gulible to believe these self inflicted stories.

probably it is not a granade attack, the vehicle caught fire due to a wire short in his residence and the sound of the explotion came from the petrol tank. You cant fool our police. if it is granade attack they will find the culprits within hours.

Look at the photos published by DM. This clearly shows it is a real drama to attract sympathy votes. Can a grenade cause such a large damage - Car/garage in pieces... large part of the house is burnt...yet, Tiran escapes unharmed.... If a grenade can do such damage, what about a claymore or a artilery shell?

People will make comments blaming one party or the other pretty soon.
People who said the UPFA candidate bombing was real (act of the UNP),
are now blaming UNP saying that the bomb attack on UNP office is staged by UNP.
Similarly, People who said that the UPFA candidate bombing was staged by the UPFA are now saying that the
UNP Office bombing is not staged and that its real (act of the UPFA).
When are we going to learn to wait till the investigations are over before passing judgements (clouded by party politics)
