Hardships at training camps - IUSF

Inter University Students Federation (IUSF) today said that the students who are participating in the leadership training programs that initiated on Monday are going through a lot of hardships that has made it impossible for them to continue being accommodated in the training camps.

IUSF Convener Sanjeewa Bandara speaking at a media briefing a short while ago said that a large number of parents have expressed their concern over the hardships their children are currently undergoing at the training camps due to lack of drinking water, food, basic sanitation as well as accommodation.

“Since the initiation of the program the students have not had a proper meal. The students who are at the military camp in Boossa do not have drinking water. The female students in the Trincomalee training camp had not had proper accommodation and now they have been provided with makeshift tents to spend the nights,” Sanjeewa said pointing out that the situation is quite similar in most of the training camps.

He said that the students are made to undergo strenuous physical training activities which have put the students in frustration. (Lakna Paranamanna)
