A frontliner of the common Opposition movement confirmed that a request has been made but said is unaware of whether or not it has been accepted and confirmed. The Common Opposition member further added the Indian High Commission has arranged a series of meetings and dinners to which top members and figures actively involved with the opposition movement have been invited.
 
Meanwhile, The Hindu news agency reported that Mr. Doval is due to meet Mr. Sirisena as well as President Mahinda Rajapaksa during the visit. The news item further stated that during his meeting with President Rajapaksa - which is also due to be attended by the Defense Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa – Mr. Doval is to discuss China’s increasingly actively role in the country as well as issues concerning maritime security in Sri Lanka as well as Maldives.
 
Meanwhile, a top official of the Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka however said that they cannot yet confirm the meetings as the program on Mr. Doval’s visit is still being worked out.
 
“Whenever the NSA visited Sri Lanka Sri Lanka in the past, the official has always met the President so we would be happy if he meets President Rajapaksa,” the official added. (Lakna Paranamanna)
