LLRC waiting for politicians
The Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) is in quandary in finalizing its report as some politicians who had expressed their willingness to give evidence before the Commission had not confirmed the dates for their appearance, sources said today.
Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Leader R. Sampathan and Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) Leader Rauff Hakeem are some of those who had expressed a desire to appear before the Commission.
LLRC sources said it had been difficult for the officials to arrange mutually convenient dates due to the lack of interest on the part of the political leaders.
He said the LLRC was reviewing the evidence given by various people before preparing the final report to be handed over to President Mahinda Rajapaksa next month. (Rifthi Ali)
