Sri Lanka cricket team captain Mahela Jayawardene and Manager Charith Senanayake have breached the terms of contract with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) by releasing their views directly to Daily Mirror and the SLC Executive Committee will take up the matter at their next meeting, SLC stated in a media release today.
In an e-mailed letter to Daily Mirror on Thursday, Jayawardene said that he has lost confidence in Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) after a confidential document handed over to SLC had been published in the Daily Mirror.
Jayawardene who is currently touring Australia with the national team sent the email to Daily Mirror through the Sri Lanka team manager Charith Senanayaka.
Following is the media release issued by Sri Lanka Cricket Media Manager Rajith Fernando on the issue.
"The Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket turned down a request made by the Captain of the National Team, Mahela Jayawardena, to distribute part of the guarantee fee due to the team from the World T20, to members of the Support Staff and certain ground staff, at its last meeting held on 12th December. The players are paid 25% of the guarantee fee as per their contract and it is not distributed among anyone other than the players, hence the reason for the Executive Committee to refuse to deviate from the standard practice. Certain sections of the media contacted the Treasurer to clarify exactly what happened and he had explained this process. Thereafter, when it was carried in an article in a local newspaper, Mahela Jayawardena made his concerns known to the SLC Office Bearers. The subsequent release of his views through the Manager, direct to the media is a breach of their respective contracts on the part of both the Captain and the Manager and this matter will be taken up for discussion when the Executive Committee next meets."

Who is this guy Nuski Mohammed? What is his contribution to cricket in S/L? Is he a cricketer? What does he know about cricket? If the answer to the last 3 Q is in the negative I say throw him out. The minor staff in every establishment provides a high standard of service for which they not paid sufficiently unlike the fat cats that sit on their arse & barks orders at everyone when they know nothing of the game. Good on you Mahela, do what you think is right 7 to hell with SLC.

All SLC Offcials should be taught how to run a body like SLC. They are there to swindle the money.
All players are Money Mongers rather playing for the country. All Sri Lankans are having corrupted ming. Sri Lanka will never be developed country untill they change their mean attitude.

It is not fair to blame Mahela for this case. There should be an investigation for the following;
1. Nuski has been the Treasurer for long time and there had been a lot of financial irregularities., Even SLC is at a loss as well.
2. If Mahela issued statements, what about Nuski speaking to media? is he the spokesman of SLC?
3. If not for cricketers, there is no need of administrators, the Cricketers should have due respect as well.

A Captain is duty bound to win matches and tournaments
for his country. A captain must concentrate only on that. Sri Lanka has a captain who has time to write letters on distributing prize money while on tour in Australia. Priorities are not right.

Mahela spoke the truth. If Mahela has breached the contract, then how did the confidential letter got in to the hands of Daily Mirror and Mr Nuski made a comment on the matter of the letter.. All are playing games. Mahela, whatever it is, we are with you. You didn't score 10,000 runs on both Test and ODI's for name sake. You got those runs for Sri Lanka..

So the SCL has been maintaining their contracts strictly to the rule, and all have been playing strictly according to the rules/ regulations? As per the contracts, have all monies been paid to players, as and when they were due?
Let the man with no guilt, including no breach of ethics, cast the first vote at SLC Ex Co meeting, on Mahela and Charith.
