It's like spreading a wound. Peliyagoda is just outside the congested city of Colombo. Markets like this must be relocated in anywhere else in Sri Lanka with quality road systems.

True, but let the poor small vendors too earn their daily bread.

You can buy fish and veggies from Cargills and Keels supermarkets. Quality and convenience.

Very good move by the government. All dirty markets, storage spaces(charmers granary),slums, government ministries etc...should all vacate from Colombo. The city should be well planned in par with other cities in the world.

For gods sake do not do this in the sinhala and hindu new yr period. Do it in a lull period or u will get the price hikes due to the usual protests. But this makes sense. The pettah market is too crowded out. We need a place that can expand.

It is not only moving the market but the entire infrastructure and funds allocation for the job.
However it is such as these statements made by irresponsible guys that inflame hate and riots unnecessarily.

Direct result of the protest of the traders of the Manning Market on vegetable crates. Hereinafter, do not protest on whatever government do. Accept everything.

Already we find it difficult to buy our fish all the way from Peliyagoda. Moving even the vegies there is adding salt to injury.
