Former Deputy Minister of Highways Mervyn Silva has been reappointed to his post in the government, the President’s Media Unit said a short while ago.
Silva was earlier cleared by an SLFP disciplinary committee from charges against him involving an incident where he had tied a Sumurdhi official to a tree in Kaleniya.
Mervyn Silva was seen this morning taking part in a demonstration together with government ministers in Colombo in support of the 18th Amendment to the Constitution. (Daily Mirror online)

Hon. Dr. Mervyn Silva,
In the name of Lord Buddha,if you are following truly the Dhamma preached by our great philosopher, please be good enough refrain from the methods of solving matters in a arrogant way. It is bad for the country and future generation. You may have read an article that one of Gramaarakshaka has done to lady who has come to him to make a complaint. Is this descent way of life. You all as legislators should make yourself as examples to others. If a father do wrong things in his life, he cannot tell his son or daughter to be good. As per Buddhism, for everything is to be judge by yourself. It is good or bad only that you will carrying to the next birth.

Perfect timing, no? Complementing one enormous mistake with a smaller one is hardly going to allow the people to take note. Still we have the potential for more laughs now, as I didn't see any yesterday.

Why only as Deputy Minister? He should have been made Deputy Prime Minister for all the Dirty Work he has done for the Party.

This is rediculous, In Sri-Lanka the suspect is honoured and the victim reprimanded, This will be the pattern in the future with the 18th amendmenbt
